Kids Summer Reading 2010
It’s Summer Reading time again! Sign-ups start June 1, and summer reading ends August 10.
We have two different programs:
- Read-to-Me: For children of all ages who have not yet learned how to read.
- Independent Reader: For kids (up to those entering grade 7) who already know how to read. (Those entering grade 8 or higher may sign up for Teen Summer Reading.)
How it works:
- Sign up at the library and get your Summer Reading Log.
- Mark the log for every unit you read.
- Read-to-Me: 1 unit = 1 book or 15 minutes of reading aloud.
- Independent: 1 unit = 1 book or 1 hour of reading.
- For every 4 units of reading, you will be entered in our weekly prize drawing.
- It takes 20 units to complete the program.
- Every participant who finishes wins a paperback + a coupon for Oaks Park (to be used on August 11).
Important Summer Reading dates:
- June 1: First day of sign-ups for Summer Reading.
- June 21: First day of weekly prize drawings.
- July 31: Last day to sign up for Summer Reading.
- August 10: Final day of Summer Reading.
- August 11: Special day at Oaks Park for participants who finished Summer Reading!
Please remember to sign up at only one Washington County Library.
You can follow our Programs & Events page to keep up to date on related events throughout the summer, and you can download a PDF flier for our program to print at home. If you have any questions, please let us know.
